Standards-based Multimodal Interface for Mobile Devices

Abstract:

To support the interoperability of voice driven applications across different devices a standardized programming model is necessary. This paper outlines a new standard, XHTML + Voice (X+V), for the design of multimodal interfaces for the evolving variety of mobile devices. This new standard is based on standards for the well established XHTML-based visual interface design and the evolving VoiceXML-based voice interface design.
